50 Shades

I did it.
I tasted the forbidden fruit of 50 Shades of Grey.

From Amazon:
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Did I feel dirty reading it?
Yep.

Is it written terribly?
Yep.

Did I actually stop reading it at one point because I was out in public and was convinced someone would read it over my shoulder and think it was porn?
Yep.

But I couldn't stop reading it.
Like read it in a day couldn't stop reading it.
It was like a car wreck, you know you're not supposed to stare but you can't tear your eyes away from it...

I will absolutely be reading the next two books.

Ps. It makes Book 18!!
I can't believe I'm already so close to the half way point of my goal!

Have you read it? Will you?

  7. So, I have an audible account that I share WITH MY MOM... so I was thinking about getting this one next, but now I'm nervous because I don't want my mom to think I'm reading porn. Should I get it or just read it, like the actual book.

  8. Hahaha I have this one on hold at the library and I was just telling a friend that I don't think I'll be reading it in public. But the things I've heard about them are so outrageous that I think I have to read them!

  11. I have to admit, when I saw that you were reviewing this book, I was afraid you'd gush about it. I don't think I'll read it on principal of two things: It's glorified, published FAN FICTION and it's a Twilight rip-off.
However, I do enjoy a good train wreck...
Hmm. You've given me a lot to think about.

  12. There seems to be so much hype about this book lately. And for that reason I will probably wind up reading it, although definitely think it'll wind up making me uncomfortable as well.
